Just the boys and me

We went for a quick trip down to the beach where my brother's family had a house for the week. It was so nice just to be with my boys. The pool water was frigid but just right for them! They swam, picked blackberries, played in the sand, went kayaking and "played" rummy. They made a lot of fun memories in two days, thanks to Dean and Ash for having us! We sure were ready to get home to our little sissy sue (and Daddy too)!

**3 posts in one day... I think I'm getting my groove back, now back to parenting ;)

Getting Well

This month was a sickly month. Saylor got tubes in both ears and her tongue-tie clipped on her 11-month birthday (happy birthday :( ). She did great and in fact went for her post-op yesterday and has one tube that is stopped up so we are trying to fix that so they don't have to go back in. Hudson and Harrison both had a "fever virus" (worst diagnosis ever). Hudson's was strange in that it lasted for 2 weeks and his back and head hurt, he lost his color and was lethargic. I had already diagnosed mono, meningitis, and encephalitis.... I'm sure our doctors appreciated my proactive diagnosis ;) but after a day of tests at the hospital he was "normal"! So anyway we are all on the mends .... Minus the cough and fever they are now sharing with each other! Got to get well before our sunshine's birthday party!

Kitchen Facelift

We got a kitchen facelift this month! New counter tops, backsplash, sink and stove. We wanted it to be clean and bright so we went with white. The granite was one of the lightest we could find without going to white marble and went with a glazed "mini" subway tile for the backsplash and kept the white cabinets we had, I do want a fresh coat of high gloss paint but after being without a kitchen for 5 days it's going to take some time for me to be ready for another project soon. Joel's dad can do anything and thanks to him we didn't have to rent any tools or hire anyone to do any work! I wasn't sure what to do over the stove (colored tile or design) but I got some inspiration from houzz.com and went with the herringbone pattern which I am so happy with! It's all so nice and clean and bright now, I have no before pics on my phone but I will post on that later. One night when Pappy (Joel's dad) was working with our oven outlet (220v) Joel lit a firecracker behind him and apparently we are lucky he didn't kill over, I would have! I had to add the pic I Joel hooking up our new sink and disposal (my first ever!) he was watching videos on you tube.... He certainly learned a lot that week. Thank you Pappy for all of your knowledge, time and tools!

Moves like Jagger

We had a spend the night party with the girls and a birthday pre-party for Kali, she is turning 6 this week! We got her a boom box and a cd so they danced (to "Moves Like Jagger")and danced an woke up wanting to dance some more (I told them they had to wait until 8:00am, the club was closed that early!). We plate a lot outside and saw the horses. Then the kids, me, Nanny and Granny Shaw went shopping and down to the pier in Gulfport. Hudson picked out some new Chapstick (over a Disney toy) and Harrison picked out a 75cent toy out of the candy machine..... Win - Win!!

Purpose!

I brought the boys some treats from the grocery store last night but I should've known they would not have been approved by Harrison Pierce. I got them Gushers, Poptarts, cheap camo shoes and some gum (awesome right!?) nope. Harrison said," ugh! You can eat all of this, that's not a good surprise I want you to turn around and go back and buy me a costume!" he was serious.

I saw him snap the Hudson in the back with a piece of elastic off said cheap shoes and he said "oh I'm sorry!". I told him not to say he is sorry when he does something on purpose..... You got to know Harrison and how serious he is about every word that comes out of your mouth... He thought for a minute and said, "Purpose! Purpose Hudson! Ok?" as he patted him on the back. Ha! At least he was honest. He is funny, serious, literal, OCD and passionate!! He often bosses Hudson around and says, "because I'm the oldest" :)
